EDeX deconstructs the data from the sending systems into individual quantum of data. A quantum is the smallest indivisible component. The deconstruction of the data into quanta is a critical aspect of EDeX's breakthrough technology .

The quanta of data is developed by EDeX's servers by connecting the received data with the appropriate "system profile". The system profile is the aggregated of relevant and corresponding business rules, security requirements, system configuration, collaboration protocols that were developed during the on boarding process. 

By breaking the data into quanta, EDeX can then match those data to its unique data dictionary and create a universal language.

Data quanta can be reconfigured by the EDeX transformation servers to meet the "receiving profile(s)" and subsequently delivered in near-real time.
